Well, hello. Nearly another week, and let's POSITIVISE shall we - 28% of marketing leaders expect to add people in Q4 while 18% expect cuts. I know, I know, a swallow does not a summer make - but you only have to look at the confidence coming out of the New York market right now to know that something's a-moving over there, and we often follow in the UK.
For instance, right now in NYC there is a company with a CMO, a VP of Marketing and a VP of Growth all open at the same time, and yes, before you ask, they are three separate people.
Research · Esteve Castells, LLM Pulse, 13 October 2026
Between Friday 9 and Sunday 11 October, daily ChatGPT referral sessions across the sites LLM Pulse monitors fell about 46% against the same days in the two previous weeks, with the typical site losing roughly half and more than eight in ten losing over 30%. Total traffic on those sites was down about 2%, and Perplexity and Claude referrals held steady, which makes a measurement glitch less likely. It lines up with the GPT-6 rollout, though Castells says that is not confirmed, and he cannot yet tell whether the visits are gone or arriving untagged as Direct.
Hiring · Molly Innes, Marketing Week, 15 October 2026
IPA Bellwether data, shared with Marketing Week, has 28% of marketing leaders expecting staffing levels to rise in Q4, up from 17.4% the previous quarter, and 18% expecting cuts, down from 25.1%. Net intent is plus 10.1%, against minus 7.8% three months ago and minus 5.3% a year ago. Separately, Ingenuity+ and Pearlfinders counted 116 marketing hires in the first three weeks of September against 105 in the whole of August. Bellwether measures what leaders say they will do rather than what they do, and Ingenuity+ and Pearlfinders both sell into a busy senior hiring market.
Org design · Alison Weissbrot, Adweek, 12 October 2026
Adweek got hold of a memo from Spectrum's chief operating officer Nick Jeffery setting out a new structure, under which chief marketing officer Sharon Peters and chief commercial officer Adam Ray both leave at the end of the year, and the chief commercial officer role goes altogether. Jeffery wrote that the company has "underperformed the markets, and our own expectations". The detail to notice, if you are in a marketing leadership team, is the elimination rather than the replacement. Commercial and marketing ownership is being folded together instead of re-advertised.
Hiring · Brandon Vigliarolo, The Register, 14 October 2026
A comedian who goes by Graham Dot Zip sent his own AI agent, Victor, into a screening interview with a company's AI recruiter. Victor got his qualifications wrong, misdescribed his role on a project, and then offered him up at around $60,000 a year when Graham had been after $140,000 to $150,000. The recruiter would not go past $90,000. The two of them went ahead and booked a follow-up interview with no human in it, and when Graham came back they were stuck in a loop thanking each other and saying goodbye. There's a tonne of these, some are funny, some are scripted, and I cannot wait for the moment the tech bros realise this is going down the pan.

Seed · Endeit Capital, FJ Labs, LocalGlobe and Felix Capital · 7 October 2026
Stablecoin payments infrastructure, settling cross-border payments on stablecoin rails and plugging into local payment systems at both ends, live in more than 150 markets. The seed has closed at $38m including a $16m extension, and the company's own post does not name a lead. There is one marketing role on the board, a Marketing Design Lead, hybrid in London, alongside a Growth Lead that sits in sales. Eight roles in total, so this is a small team hiring one marketing person with a design bias, which usually means the near-term job is brand and product storytelling rather than pipeline.

Scarlet certifies AI and software medical devices, and it is a designated certification body recognised by the EU, the UK's MHRA and the US FDA, which is a rare position to hold. Fourteen roles are open and the hiring is commercial and technical: account executives in London and New York, a business development rep, auditors, machine learning and safety engineers, a product designer. Nothing marketing-shaped is posted yet. If you like a regulated category with a genuine moat around it, this is a company to keep an eye on for when a first marketing hire does appear.

Metaview builds AI agents for recruiting and has now raised $110m in total. It is a London and San Francisco company and it is opening in New York. The bit that matters for London marketers: there are three marketing roles live, a Product Marketing Manager, an Events Marketer and a Brand Designer, and all three of them are in San Francisco. The fourteen London roles are sales, engagement, operations, finance and product. So the marketing work at Metaview currently sits in California.
Also in: CodeWall came out of stealth on 14 October with $4m of pre-seed led by Osney Capital, building autonomous attack agents that probe enterprise security from the outside, with seven roles open and none of them in marketing.
None of these are ours this week. We have nothing live in London right now - reason being we're not doing any BD in London (sorry, it's been so painful all year we'll stick to NYC until London recruitment wakes up), so all four belong to other people, and all four were live on their own job boards this morning.

Lendable is a London consumer lender that rebuilt loans, credit cards and car finance from scratch, and it is now bringing its consumer products under the Zable brand. The listing calls this a once-in-a-company moment, with a step change in direct-to-consumer investment and a marketing function being built at pace, and the job is direct mail done properly: creative, offers, sends, logistics, reporting, and the data enrichment that decides who gets the envelope in the first place. It comes with a team, dedicated analysts plus the in-house creative group, which is rare for a channel role. They want marginal CAC thinking, test cells and holdouts, real Royal Mail supply chain knowledge down to Mailmark and door drops and suppression files, and they ask to see AI in your actual workflow. The company says it has been profitable since 2017, has over 800 people and is backed by Balderton Capital and Goldman Sachs. Posted on 9 October, so it is fresh.

Lovable is the AI software creation platform, headquartered in Stockholm with growing teams in London, Boston, New York and San Francisco, and it is assembling a London marketing team right now. This role sits alongside live openings for paid search, lifecycle, a marketing growth engineer, a growth data scientist, a product marketing manager and two brand designers, which tells you more about the next year there than any single job description would. The job itself runs Meta as the core channel and tests the rest, and the unusual part is that they want you building agents with Lovable that read performance, move budget and catch problems, so you are building the machine as well as operating it. They ask for seven or more years on paid social, someone who will not do by hand what a script could do, and the ability to build and debug your own tracking, then write the queries that judge a channel on incrementality rather than platform-reported ROAS. It is an individual contributor role. Posted 7 October.

Tessl is building a context layer for AI coding agents, founded by Guy Podjarny who previously founded Snyk, and the listing says it has raised more than $100m from Index Ventures, Accel, GV and Boldstart. This is effectively the demand generation founding hire: pipeline creation across paid, organic, partnerships and community, attribution and reporting you set up yourself, and ownership of CAC, CPL, conversion rates and pipeline contribution. No direct reports, and you work alongside product marketing, content and sales rather than above them. They would like someone who has marketed to developers and understands a product-led funnel with sales assistance on top, which is a narrower pool than it sounds in London. The job title is the giveaway on team shape: flat, early, nowhere to hide. Salary is benchmarked but not published, which I would ask about on the first call. Posted 21 September.
London · $140K to $170K, plus equity and bonus
Causaly's platform pulls evidence out of millions of papers, trials and regulatory documents for biomedical researchers, and the listing names ICONIQ, Index Ventures, Pentech and Marathon as backers. The role owns demand creation and conversion into pipeline inside a defined ideal customer profile, across paid advertising, events, email, webinars and content, with the demand generation budget to allocate as you see fit. HubSpot is the system of record and they want it properly optimised and reported on, plus leadership on the rest of the marketing technology the team runs. Five or more years in B2B SaaS demand generation or growth marketing. One oddity to flag: the salary band is published in dollars on a London listing, $140,000 to $170,000, which is unusual enough that I would ask early what that converts to in practice. Their whole board is six roles, so this is one deliberate senior hire rather than a team build. Posted 7 October.
See you next Sunday.

Who doesn't love a pricing page right? So let's all go look at Cursor because you've got to live the grift here. On paper a couple of tiers got cheaper. In practice the thing that used to be bundled, the Claude and GPT and Gemini usage, is now metered from the first request, so a developer who paid $20 and used $20 of Claude is looking at $50 for the same month.
The old ones are the best, huh. You don't raise the price, you move the line around what's included, and the sticker stays friendly. It is the oldest trick in packaging and it still works, which is why this issue leans on pricing and naming more than usual.
The roles are at the bottom as they always are. In London there is a head of function job with a team of five already under it and budget to hire more, and in New York the published bands run up to $240,000.
Pricing · Paul Sawers, The New Stack, 13 October 2026
Cursor now sells through the X Subscription, five tiers from free up to $200, with Grok allowances shared across Cursor, the Grok apps and X itself. The old Cursor plans bundled third-party model usage at API prices: $20 of it on the $20 Pro plan, $70 on Pro+, $400 on Ultra. Now Claude, GPT and Gemini start at the $30 Premium tier and the subscription covers none of that usage, on the $100 and $200 tiers too. Team plans start at $30 a seat, down from $40. Sawers does the sum for you, and $20 plus $20 of Claude becomes $50.

Bending Spoons, which agreed in August to buy Airtable for $1.28bn, is cutting a "large part" of the workforce about two months in, and has not given a number. God they don't hang around do they. Affected staff left by the end of that week with what Airtable called substantial separation packages. Bending Spoons' product leader Federico Simionato put the reasoning as a belief that small teams ship more and better, and added: "To everyone leaving: thank you. If you're hiring, these are excellent people and worth a call." Airtable's product lead says the focus is now the core platform and AI features.
Positioning · Sasha Semjonova, Salesforce Ben, 12 October 2026
Marc Benioff posted that "AIForce is officially SIForce", after an executive order titled "Inaugurating The Era of Super Intelligence" directed the executive branch to use "Super Intelligence" and "SI" in place of "artificial intelligence" and "AI". That makes three names in just over six months for the same agentic integration layer, after Headless 360 at TrailblazerDX in April and AIforce at Dreamforce. Salesforce had made no official announcement when the piece ran. Anyone who has rebuilt a messaging hierarchy after a category rename knows what the next fortnight looks like for that team. And anyone with half a brain will not be using SI because some orange f*ckwit says you should. Oops sorry did I write that out loud?

Synthesia is the AI video platform used, it says, by over 90% of the Fortune 100, and the listing puts total funding above $530m after a $200m Series E at a $4bn valuation, with Accel, NVentures, Kleiner Perkins, GV and Evantic Capital on the cap table. The role exists because the product is changing shape: the avatars are becoming interactive, so instead of watching a video you have a conversation with one, and that shift needs a story that somebody owns. You would set the platform narrative across video, interactive avatars and the API, run launches across the whole portfolio, own competitive strategy and buyer research, and set the messaging that sales, the website and campaigns all run on. You also lead a team of five product marketers and hire into it. One requirement stands out, which is that they expect you to have built and deployed agents and automated real parts of your own PMM work, whether that is competitive tracking, research synthesis or launch operations. Five more roles in the PMM family are live alongside it.

ComplyAdvantage works in financial crime detection, so screening, transaction monitoring, fraud and regulatory reporting. This is the best-written foundational brief on the list. You report to the VP of Product Marketing as one of two product marketing leads building a function that is only just forming, with real latitude to decide how product marketing works there, and you own what the listing calls the largest and most active half of the portfolio, with products and features shipping continuously. They are honest that there are no direct reports and no plan for any, so it is hands-on end-to-end ownership rather than managing other people's output. The language on launches is better than most: decide what earns a flagship moment and what ships quietly. On enablement they want decks, demos, battlecards and FAQs written from real understanding rather than templated from a brief, and they describe the relationship with product as peer to a Product Director rather than downstream of one. There is a 60-day success definition in the listing, which I always like to see.

Flo is the women's health app with more than 500 million downloads, over 80 million monthly users and 7 million paid subscribers, and the listing notes a $200m investment led by General Atlantic and a $1bn valuation reached in 2024. You report to the Director of Product Marketing and work across product and marketing, taking new products and features from positioning and launch through to growth. The reason to look twice is that the function itself is still being shaped, so part of the job is defining the ways of working, standards and tools that make product marketing central rather than decorative. The scope is proper consumer subscription work: positioning and messaging tested through user research and in-market experiments, a hand in pricing and packaging, onboarding and paywalls, and briefing paid acquisition, creative, lifecycle, brand, social and app store optimisation so every channel tells the same story. There is one wrinkle you will not find in B2B, which is that messaging goes through medical and legal review for health claims. Six or more years in consumer product marketing, ideally mobile subscription. Updated 13 October.

Wayve is building an AI platform for autonomous driving, end-to-end embodied AI that learns to drive from real-world experience, mapless and hardware-agnostic, sold into car makers rather than consumers. The role leads positioning for those software products with automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and the chip and systems architects who sit behind them, and the narrative job is to show how the technology gets a vehicle to assisted and automated driving at L2+, L3 and L4. You work across product and strategy, technical business development, the automotive team and marketing, so this is a cross-functional seat rather than a hierarchical one, and there is sales enablement in it too: presentations, competitive analyses, demos and targeted campaigns, plus keeping track of a very fast-moving ADAS and autonomy landscape. A Head of Marketing is also live on the same board in London, so you could be joining under a brand-new marketing leader, which suits some people and not others. They soften the bar at the end of the listing and say that not ticking every box is fine. Posted 2 October.
See you next Sunday.
