Director of Marketing
$175K - $205K[the client SEARCH — employer name must never be shared with candidates, in outreach, LinkedIn messages, or emails until they sign an NDA. Candidates learn the employer's identity once they reach an interview.]
A portfolio company consisting of three K-12 fundraising platforms serving elementary and middle schools nationwide: a literacy-based reading fundraiser, a movement/activity-based fundraiser, and an online silent-auction platform. Processes close to nine figures in donations annually, serving tens of thousands of schools, PTAs/PTOs, and nonprofits. Backed by institutional investors (collectively north of $1B AUM), with sustained double-digit organic growth plus three completed acquisitions with more planned.
We need a highly data-driven marketing leader with 3-10 years of experience in growth marketing who has owned full-funnel demand generation for web-based, self-serve platforms. The role is a player-coach: building strategy and executing personally, not just managing. Track record of using analytics to identify and scale growth loops that compound over time is essential. Bonus points for K-12/education/nonprofit fundraising experience and for having rebuilt marketing workflows around AI tooling.
What you'll do:
- Own full-funnel marketing across three brands — SEO, paid acquisition, lifecycle/CRM, social, content, partnerships, and conversion optimization.
- Consolidate three separate marketing teams into one integrated function organized by capability rather than brand — redesigning roles, eliminating duplicate seats, and rebuilding workflows around AI tooling within the first 90 days.
- Build and instrument growth loops (referrals, rebook cycles, cross-brand exposure, historical event re-engagement) into scalable, measurable engines.
- Establish rigorous marketing analytics and measurement — channel-level attribution, CAC and marginal CAC, and a reporting layer the CEO and board can act on.
- Drive an experimentation culture — weekly cadence of live tests, pre-registered hypotheses, honest readouts, fast iteration across landing pages, signup flows, donation pages, lifecycle programs.
- Own the marketing P&L — budget, channel mix, and spend allocation.
- Leverage AI aggressively across creative production, campaign copy, audience building, reporting, and competitive research.
- Develop customer segmentation strategy across school tiers and adjacent segments.
Reports to the CEO. Small physical company presence in the central US; leadership team works remotely. Fully remote-first with occasional in-person meetings. Interview process: first round with CEO and CFO, then an in-person case study. Not open to visa sponsorship (US citizens/Green Card holders only). Looking to hire 1.
What we're looking for
- •Owned full-funnel growth marketing at a self-serve, web-based platform (consumer-facing or PLG, high transaction/signup volume) — not enterprise/sales-led marketing
- •Owned a marketing P&L and can speak fluently to CAC and marginal CAC by channel
- •Deeply data-driven at a statistical level: understands holdout tests, causal inference, incrementality, and experimentation design (not just Google Analytics + Excel)
- •Builder mentality — has personally executed, not just managed a team ("coaches play too")
- •Has actually rebuilt a marketing workflow around AI tooling (automated creative production, AI campaign copy at scale, replaced headcount with tooling) — not just AI-curious
- •8-14 years of experience in growth marketing (sweet spot; some flexibility either way)
- •Must be US-based Remote; no visa sponsorship available
- •Comfortable with a the client search process requiring NDA before company details are shared
Nice to have
- •Experience at a PE-backed roll-up or in a post-M&A integration setting — has consolidated or unified marketing functions after an acquisition (including having been on the receiving end of a consolidation)
- •K-12/education/nonprofit fundraising experience — a plus, not a must-have; the existing team already has deep K-12 knowledge, the real gap is analytical rigor and growth marketing chops
- •Experience at a smaller or scaling company where they were the one doing the work, not a cog in a large machine
- •No specific degree required — competency over pedigree; education and job titles matter less than evidence of analytical depth, growth orientation, and execution ability
